Meet the Team

Nursing Program Administrator

Michael Johnson, PhD, RN, PMH-BC, CNE, FAAN

Dr. Johnson boasts a diverse background in academia and clinical practice. He has worked as an administrator and faculty at Cleveland State University, Nevada State University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He earned his PhD in Nursing Science from Medical University of South Carolina.

His extensive research and expertise focus on health disparities and inequities, resulting in over 20 research articles and textbook chapters and 40 conference presentations. He has a broad clinical history spanning pediatrics, pediatric critical care, psychiatric mental health, and corrections/jail nursing. Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, and Certified Nurse Educator.

Raquel Rodriguez, MSN, RN

Raquel has an extensive background in clinical and academic nursing. She has worked in nursing for over 30 years as an STNA, LPN, and RN. She specializes in cardiovascular surgical care, but has worked in a variety of other areas, including medical surgical, telemetry, and skilled nursing. Her academic nursing background includes working as an instructor at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University. For the past 8 years, she worked as the Clinical Experience Coordinator at Cleveland State University

Raquel received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from Cleveland State University. She is finishing her PhD in Urban Studies with a specialization in Nursing Education at Cleveland State University.
