Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are an important part of the healthcare workforce, providing bedside nursing care and procedures under the direction of registered nurses and physicians. However, the shortage of nurses, including LPNs, is becoming a nationwide concern due to the aging nursing workforce and lack of new graduates. To address this workforce issue, Polaris Career Center teamed up with Southwest General Health Center to launch a new Adult Education Practical Nursing program designed to help fill these vital positions.
Thanks to this innovative partnership, Polaris students will gain practical clinical experience at Southwest General. Polaris officially dedicated its new, state-of-the-art lab space during a special August ribbon cutting ceremony. This is the newest and most advanced practical nursing lab in Northeast Ohio. Polaris staff, community representatives, Southwest General employees and industry partners were on hand to celebrate this important milestone.
The first cohort of 43 Practical Nursing students started on August 19. Best of luck to our students and thank you, Southwest, for your support!
